Society Meeting In Attendance: Dave, Sue, Dick Sample, Peter, Lisa, Melinda, Christine
Minutes from October 28th Meeting were approved.
Treasurers Report is tabled until the January Meeting. (Agenda for January) Calendars: group discussed issues with image quality and the problems with the collating. Dave and Peter will try to meet with Fletcher Press in February to discuss issues. The group wants to explore the possibility of getting a discount on the calendars and of getting quotes from other printers. Either Laura or Christine will bring calendars to the Twinfield Craft Fair this year.
Website Update: We are online and have received our first online
order for the Pictorial History book. The group decided that $5 for
shipping and handling will cover our costs. We will only ship the book
once we have a check in hand. Peter will continue working on content.
He will create links to the Division for Historic Preservation Barn
Census and the Vermont Historical Society. Lisa will email images of
historic buildings. Peter will post the walking tour and is open to
other suggestions for content. Nancy Ellen is interested in doing a
guide to Plainfield Cemeteries. The group suggested that Nancy meet
with Dale Bartlett. Peter will talk with Nancy about coming to one of
our meetings to discuss her interest. (Agenda for January) VT History Expo: The theme is either waterways or byways The group tabled this discussion until the January Meeting when we know more about the topic.
(Agenda for January) Book Sales: Sue agreed to ship the books. Bev is the distributor. The shipping and handling is $5. Charles Corson requested a book and a calendar. Peter will purchase a pack of 10 envelopes and will ship the web request. Sue will ship the package to Charles Corson. We are still waiting for the hardcover books from Fletcher Press. Peter and Dave will talk with Fletcher about the hardcover books when they meet with them in February. The group suggested doing an Ad for the World, Field Notes and also making a few posters for River Run, the Co-op and Redstore. Dave reported that there are 24 books missing from the Country Bookstore.
(Agenda for January)
Oral History Tape/Slides: Margery Strong talked about slide
scanning. Peter can do 5x7 @ 600 DPI in 1 minute. The group talked
about people volunteering to go over to Peter's house to scan. Also, is
there a volunteer from our membership or a high school student who might
be interested? Are we going to use the past perfect software? The
group discussed the oral history tapes from 1989-1991. The tapes are
very poor quality. We have abridged and edited transcripts. Is it
possible to transcribe to CD? Can WGDR assist with this? Christine will
follow up with WGDR and will do a piece on the Friday Community radio
show using old transcripts. Leadership: Melinda will chair meetings in the absence of a president. Lisa will tag items in the Minutes that should be on the Agenda for the next meeting.
New/Other: Peter will write a Thank You letter to the Goddard VP for the use of the server for our website.
The meeting is adjourned at 8:45pm. The next meeting will be on January 6th at 7:00pm and the Library.
